TRUE BLUEY VOLUNTEER ROLES
If you are keen to get involved, then we have the perfect role for you! Some of the areas you’ll be able to get involved with are:

Run or Bike Course Marshals – You’ll have your very own front-row seat for all the action, while assisting with direction and safety out on the course. If you have a current First Aid certificate that is a great bonus.
Transition Area Marshals – Don’t let the course marshals know, but this is really where all the action happens! Marshals will direct competitors in and out of the Transition Area between legs.

Timing Assistants – If you’ve got an eagle eye and you quite like the thought of sitting down for your shift, then you might be the Timing Assistant we’re looking for! Your job will be to provide a manual timing back up. We’ll need a couple of assistants who don’t mind being on their feet as well.
Athlete and Spectator Services – If you like the idea of getting face to face with athletes and spectators and you enjoy dealing with customers face to face this might be your department. There are a number of different roles within the department, including staffing the Info Booth, assisting with athlete registrations, staffing the athlete bag drop, welcoming athletes and spectators as they arrive, and directing and liaising with all arrivals at the entry.

VIP Services – This role is available at Oceania and World Championship Events only. Our VIP services staff will act as hosts for the VIP staff attending the event. This role would suit someone with a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
Volunteer Services – We like to make sure our volunteers are looked after! This means we need a little help making sure everyone has everything they need for the day (especially lunch!).

Finish Line/Start Line Assistants – Start and Finish Line Assistants are integral in ensuring athletes have a fantastic start and end to their races. Some days the role will be combined so you’ll get to see the athletes when they are fresh and again when they cross the finish line.
Car Parking Marshals – Car Parking Marshals are the first point of contact the athletes and spectators have with the event. You will be based outside of the Race HQ area, so you won’t see all the action, but you will be the welcoming and happy face all athletes and spectators are met with as they experience a relaxed and hassle-free arrival at the event.

Bump In | Bump Out – If you’re the more physical type assisting with set up and pull down might be the perfect role for you. You will assist with the logistical set up and pull down of the event including tents, fences, bunting, signage and all the other key logistics involved in the set up.
And more! There are a few other areas we are looking for help in, including some team leader positions for those who are looking to get involved at a higher level. We will help you find the right position for you depending on your availability, interests and experience.

HOW LONG WILL MY SHIFT BE? Shift times vary depending on the role you would like to undertake. Most shifts usually last from 4-6 hours.

WHEN IS THE VOLUNTEERS BRIEFING? Volunteer briefing will take place at a time prior to the event start. Please check your Volunteer Handbook for details. I’M NOT REALLY BIG ON WALKING AND I PREFER BEING OUT OF THE ELEMENTS, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? Sure! You don’t have to be an athlete to volunteer at our events. Some positions do involve a lot of walking or standing for long periods in the outdoors, so we can help you steer clear of them! There are many positions that involve minimal standing, and a few that will keep you mostly undercover. If you do have any specific injuries or medical conditions that we need to account for just let us know and we’ll ensure that your role is suitable for you.
