BENDIGO – It is with great disappointment that we have had to make the very difficult decision today to postpone the Goldfields MultiSport Festival, due to take place on 20 and 21 November, 2021.

At In2Adventure running events isn’t like a business to us, we do it because it feels like creating something positive in the world for some really awesome people.  Having to make heartbreaking decisions to postpone events, in a time when we know that regional communities are suffering so much is extremely difficult.

Over the past few weeks, we have put the opening of entries for the Goldfields MultiSport Festival on hold as we continued to monitor the COVID-19 situation across the country.  We understand that financially, many businesses and families are struggling and, before opening entries, we wanted to have a greater degree of certainty that the event would be likely to go ahead.

Unfortunately, the current situation in New South Wales and recent developments in Victoria, especially regional Victoria has significantly increased the liklihood that an event in Bendigo would not be able to take place by the planned event date or may be cancelled at short notice.

We know that this decision will be very disappointing for everyone, and especially for us, as we value the Bendigo community, businesses, and the people there so highly.  However, we also recognise and understand that having to cancel or reschedule an event at short notice has such a significant impact on athletes, staff, volunteers, service organisations, community groups, vendors, partners and the destinations in which we operate.

Currently, the event date is just twelve weeks away and current lock down restrictions means that the likelihood of a mass participation event being able to take place in Victoria in November 2021 is extremely unlikely.

Based on this, we have taken the difficult decision to not open entries for the Goldfields MultiSport Festival, and instead, to work towards the event on 19th and 20st November 2022.

We cannot know the future for certain, and the situation in Victoria could improve by November, which we truly hope it does, however, the most we can do is to make informed decisions based on the information available now, in the best interest of all involved.  We sincerely hope that Victoria will continue to build a path to recovery, as the impact that COVID-19 is having on so many people and businesses is devastating.

In the meantime, we would encourage you, when restriction allow, if you have the opportunity, to consider paying a visit to Bendigo.  It is a beautiful and historic destination, and although the festival will not be here in 2021, we can still enjoy the wonderful natural beauty and adventure opportunities in this amazing destination.

We thank you all in advance for your understanding and send all of our love and best wishes to all of our special In2Adventure family as we all continue to navigate our way through these uncertain times.

Best wishes

Rob & Simon & the i2a team

BENDIGO – Entries for the Goldfields MultiSport Festival on 20th and 21st November 2021 are currently on hold as we continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation throughout the country.

TreX and Trail Run Australia Goldfields entries were due to open on the 10th and 12th of August, however, we have made the decision to delay the opening of entries as we continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Victoria and throughout the country.

As always, the health, safety and wellbeing of our athletes is always at the forefront of the actions we take.  Currently, lockdowns are in place in many states including Victoria and the situation has proved incredibly unpredictable and continues to change on a daily basis.  We fully understand the significant impact that having to reschedule or cancel an event at short notice can have on athletes, our partners and our providers, so for now we are taking a cautious approach and will continue to monitor the situation closely both in Victoria and other states.

This does not mean the Goldfields MultiSport Festival will not go ahead, but rather that we will delay the opening of entries until there is a greater degree of certainty that the event will be able to be hosted in a safe and appropriate environment.

We can’t know the future for certain, the most we can do is to make informed decisions based on the information available to us now, in the best interest of all involved.

We truly hope that this latest outbreak will be able to be contained and managed.  In the meantime we will be working hard behind the scenes to ensure that if an event can be hosted safely and with greater certainty in Bendigo that it will go ahead and we can all get back to enjoying the off road events we love.

We know that the future is very uncertain and in the big scheme of things, there are a lot of things that are much more important than a sporting event, especially the health and wellbeing of everyone in our community, however, we will continue to move forward with a positive outlook and keep you updated about the status of the festival moving forward.

We thank you all in advance for your understanding and send all of our thoughts and best wishes to our special In2Adventure family as we continue to navigate our way through challenging times.

Best wishes

PORT STEPHENS – The Port Stephens MultiSport Festival has announced a new date for the festival which will move to the 26th and 27th March 2022.

The festival was due to take place on the 18th and 19th of September 2021, however the very difficult decision has had to be made to move the festival date due to the current situation in New South Wales and across the country.  Despite lockdown measures being taken in July, the anticipated potential improvement in the COVID-19 situation has not eventuated which has significantly increased the risk that an event in September may need to be cancelled at very short notice.

At In2Adventure running events isn’t like a business to us, we do it because it feels like creating something positive in the world for some really awesome people.  Having to make heartbreaking decisions to move event dates, in a time when we know that everyone including regional communities are suffering so much is extremely difficult.

We know that this decision will be very disappointing for everyone, and especially for us, as we value our athletes and the Port Stephens community so highly.  However, we also recognise and understand that having to cancel an event at short notice has such a significant impact on athletes, staff, volunteers, service organisations, community groups, vendors, partners and the destinations in which we operate, as well as to our business.

However, on a positive note we are so very grateful to our team, supporters, partners and suppliers who have made it possible to provide an option for the event to be rescheduled this season.  A special thanks must also go out to both Port Stephens Council and Destination NSW for supporting and facilitating the new event dates which are:

As per the event reschedule policy all entries will automatically be transferred to the new event dates, however, if you already have confirmed commitments on these dates, please refer to details in the event reschedule policy  and email us at info@in2adventure.com.au with full details by 13th August 2021.

If you have entered for other family members, colleagues, friends etc and used your email address as the primary contact we ask that you pass this information onto them also.

Unfortunately we cannot know the future for certain, and the situation could improve by September, however, the most we can do is to make informed decisions based on the information available to us now, in the best interest of all involved.  We truly hope that this latest outbreak will be able to be contained and managed, as the impact it is having on so many people and businesses is devastating.

The Snowy Mountains are Set to Come Alive with Off Road Action in 2022

SNOWY MOUNTAINS, NSW – The Snowy Mountains are cementing their reputation as Australia’s Off-Road Adventure Mecca as they prepare to launch the next instalment of Australia’s ultimate MultiSport Festival hosted in the region throughout February 2022.

The Snowies MultiSport Festival introduces three iconic events across six days in February including mountain biking, trail running and cross triathlon, offering athletes of all levels the opportunity to discover the captivating mountain terrain of Australia’s legendary alpine high country.

SNOWIES MTB FESTIVAL

The festival launches with the Snowies Mountain Bike Festival from 4th to 6th of February.  This year will see the return of the ever-popular Thredbo Ricochet Stage as well as the Snowies Legends Descent which takes riders on an iconic 39.5km journey along the length of the Thredbo Valley Trail from Thredbo to Gaden following the banks of the Thredbo River.  The festival includes five diverse stages hosted across three days.

TRAIL RUN AUSTRALIA SNOWY MTNS | NEW 70K ULTRA & MARATHON

Just two weeks later it’s time for trail running action as the country’s national trail running series Trail Run Australia returns to its mountain home from the 18th to 19th of February.  And, in breaking news, Trail Run Australia Snowy Mountains will extend from one day, to two action-packed days of trail running in 2022.   This coincides with the launch of a new 70km Ultra and Marathon events, hosted alongside the already popular half marathon, 11k, 5k and Kids Mud Rats events.

TREX CROSS TRIATHLON | WQE

And if that’s not enough action, on Sunday 20th, Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa will once again play host to the TreX Cross Triathlon Series as athletes vie to qualify for the world champs to be hosted in Townsville in 2022.  Athletes will be ready to take on an epic swim, mountain bike and trail run on the course which won world acclaim with the hosting the 2016 ITU World Championships.

IN2ADVENTURE POLAR CHALLENGE

The In2Adventure Polar Challenge will also be an integral part of the Snowies MultiSport Festival offering athletes the opportunity to enhance their performance and reap some great rewards along the way.

MORE A CELEBRATION THAN A RACE

Events are based out of two of the region’s most popular resorts with Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa and Thredbo providing athletes the chance to holiday right in the heart of the action with Race HQ on the doorstep.  All while taking in the 4.5-star luxury and experiencing the hospitality and local fare that only the Snowies region can deliver.

Since creating the world’s first heart rate monitor in 1977, physiological innovation and sports medical research have been at Polar’s core.  Their mission is to bring the benefits of their research within the reach of everyday athletes. The partnership with In2Adventure offers the ideal opportunity to connect with those very athletes who can benefit from that research.

Kylie Glover Polar’s ANZ Managing Director highlighted the importance of the upcoming race season:

“Along with the whole Polar team we are so excited to be working alongside a partner like In2Adventure who share the same passion for sport as we do. Whether you are an elite athlete, or lining up for your first event, it’s a privilege to have a race series like this to look forward to.  Our simple goal is to try and help everyone involved with In2Adventure come back stronger for their next race, and to enjoy the magic of competing outdoors and off-road”

The initiative presents some key opportunity for athletes as In2Adventure Event Manager Robyn Lazenby told us,

For many years now we have understood that when athletes discover off road racing that it presents a new and exciting challenge that makes it hard to go back to traditional road sports.  The spectacular destinations in which we race, and the amazing scenery we experience is unforgettable.

Despite this, trying off-road sports for the first time can presents some new challenges.  For example 10km on a mountain bike or on a trail run is very different to 10km on the road.  It requires different energy levels, skills and a strong focus on the ‘here and now’.

Thanks to the support of Polar Australia, now athletes will have access to the information and technology they need to support their training goals for off-road racing and to be best prepared to enjoy and excel at their chosen off-road sport.

The partnership with Polar offers such amazing benefits for our athletes and just feels like a natural choice to connect Australia’s most dynamic athletes with the best wearable technology.”

The ‘In2Adventure Polar Challenge’ will launch at In2Adventure’s upcoming MultiSport Festival hosted in the spectacular coastlines, beaches and national parks of Port Stephens, NSW on the 18th and 19th of September.

Port Stephens MultiSport Festival 18-19 Sep 2021

One Day Opening Special - 50% Discount

PORT STEPHENS – The spectacular coastlines, beaches and national parks of Port Stephens are set to play host to a weekend of off-road action in 2021 with triathletes and trail runners set to return to the region on 18th and 19th September.

Athletes will be gearing up for the first round of the national TreX Cross Triathlon Series where they will take on the challenge of a swim, mountain bike and trail run in a race to the finish line on the iconic Fingal Bay Beach.  This will also be a qualification round for Australian athletes looking to qualify for the National Team to represent Australia at the World Championships to be hosted in Townsville in August 2022.

The TreX series has long been at the forefront of this unique form of triathlon in Australia which takes the traditional format of the sport and mixes it with a huge helping of heart, guts, dirt and mud.  The challenge is as much with mother nature as it is against other athletes.

TreX Port Stephens contenders will tackle a challenging 1,000m swim in beautiful Fingal Bay, followed by 25kms of heart pumping XC (Cross Country) mountain biking in Tomaree National Park, and then finishing off with an 8km trail run taking in the expansive coastal vistas that Port Stephens is famed for. The event also includes sprint, junior, teaser, dirt kids, duathlon and aquabike courses with something for all ages and abilities.

TreX Port Stephens is coupled with round one of Trail Run Australia, which takes runners to some of Australia’s most iconic and spectacular destinations throughout Australia.  Runners will take on one of three course options including a half marathon, 11.5k and 6k based around the Fingal Bay coastline and Tomaree National Park.

Port Stephens Council Mayor Ryan Palmer is excited to welcome triathletes, trail runners and spectators to the region.

“Our unique landscape, national parks and world class coastline make Port Stephens an ideal location for the Port Stephens MultiSport Festival. After a tough 12 months it’s wonderful to see these events returning to Port Stephens it’s the boost our community and local businesses need and I look forward to welcoming all the competitors here in September.”

The course holds some special experiences for athletes as Event Director Robyn Lazenby told us,

“Runners will start from spectacular Fingal Bay and then take on a the challenge of diverse terrain and awe-inspiring scenery thoughout the Port Stephens region.  From the beauty of Tomaree National Park, to the expansive views from coastal trails and the challenge of Samurai Dunes, this course showcases the very best of this spectacular destination.

Athletes might even see one of the many migrating Humpback or Southern Right Whales, or a friendly school of dolphins along the way.”

Athletes also have the option of taking on the NSW Dirt Master Challenge where they will compete across 2-days with the aim to record the fastest cumulative time for both events to take home the crown of Dirt Master or Dirt Mistress champion.

Based on the NSW Mid north coast, Port Stephens is a 2.5hrs drive from Sydney and offers a winning combination of beaches, national parklands and rugged coastlines.

The location offers the perfect backdrop for off road triathlon and trail running, so whether you’re a group of mates, a club, a family, a weekend warrior or someone who just loves being in the outdoors in spectacular destinations, it’s time to discover your next adventure in Port Stephens.

The Port Stephens MultiSport Festival is supported by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW and Port Stephens Council.  To find out more and be a part of the off-road action go to:

Firstly, we would like to send our thoughts and best wishes to all of you who have been impacted by current events.  It is, and will continue to be, an immense challenge for everyone, but we know the amazing spirit of our In2Adventure community will continue to carry us through this crisis and will mean that we will all come out the other side stronger and better than before.

We know that the future is very uncertain and in the big scheme of things, there are a lot of things that are much more important than a sporting event, such as the health and wellbeing of everyone in our community.  The wellbeing of the amazing nurses, ambos, doctors, healthcare workers and many others, who everyday face challenges that many of us could not even imagine, and work tirelessly to ensure that we can all have the very best care available.

However, based on the overwhelming number of entries received, we also know that a lot of you are really looking forward to getting back into the action at the Snowies MultiSport Festival in February.

With recent developments in New South Wales relating to the latest COVID-19 outbreak, we have been monitoring the situation closely and continue to monitor information provided by the NSW Government and NSW Health as well as that from other states throughout the country.

Currently, the Snowies MultiSport Festival is moving forward with no change to plans.  This is based on the following information available as of today for regional and rural NSW:

  1. The Snowy Monaro Region is not classed as a ‘Hot Spot’ and currently has no recorded cases; and
  2. Sporting activities are permitted. With a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place a maximum of 3,000 participants, or one person per 2 square metres are permitted.

Border Closures & Hot Spot Restrictions

We understand that border closures and ‘Hot Spot’ restrictions will be a concern for those travelling to the event.  For peace of mind, the event refund policy has been updated to provide more certainty for athletes if they are impacted by border closures or travel restrictions due to COVID-19.

The information above is based on the current information available, however, as we know, things can change very rapidly and we will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep you updated via the In2Adventure news page.

COVID Safe Events

In our business operations we continue to ensure that our key focus is the health and well being of our athletes, team, volunteers and the communities in which we operate.  We are focussed on ensuring that when an event takes place it delivers only positive outcomes for everyone involved.  Over the past year we have been working hard to develop COVID Safe plans to deliver on this.   These plans were implemented at the recent Sunshine Coast MultiSport Festival and thanks to the amazing support of of our team, our athletes and spectators the reports from local authorities and outcomes from the event were  overwhelmingly positive.

We are working towards being able to deliver the Snowies MultiSport Festival, as we know after an incredibly challenging year with bushfires and the pandemic that regional communities are suffering, particularly financially.  We are committed to delivering the event for the Snowy Mountains community, where it can be done in a safe and beneficial way for everyone involved.

To deliver a safe event means we’re all going to have to work together to make it happen, and that means a new ‘Event Normal’.  Below is a summary of the changes you will see at the Snowies MultiSport Festival, including the new ‘Self Support Strategy’. These strategies are all about protecting what is ultimately more important than a sporting event, it’s about staying safe, protecting our health, and being respectful of others and looking after the well-being of our mates.

We know it will be a challenge, but the good thing is that we also know our In2Adventure family are pretty incredible people and they do thrive on a challenge… after all it’s why we all do these tough, mad sports that we do.

We wish you all the very best, and circumstances permitting, we hopeully look forward to welcoming you to Australia’s spectacular Snowy Mountains in 2021.

Snowies MTB Festival Set to Return | 5-7 Feb 2021

SNOWY MOUNTAINS NSW – As the country starts to emerge from COVID-19 there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon as athletes eagerly look forward to the mountain bike action that will be on offer at the Snowies Mountain Bike Festival as it returns to Australia’s iconic Snowy Mountains in February 2021.

The Festival includes three action packed days of mountain biking from 5-7 Feb 2021.

The Snowies MTB Festival will have a slightly different format in 2021 in that rider numbers will be limited, and there will be no Ricochet downhill stage in Thredbo Resort. This is due to COVID-19 restrictions, where on-mountain capacity needs to be managed within Thredbo Resort. However, the Thredbo Mountain Bike Park is set to open for daily operations from 21 November in what will be a huge summer of riding in the Snowy Mountains.

On the bright side the festival will still include all the legendary riding that athletes have come to know and love, with 4 stages across 3 days hosted with COVID Safe plans in place that will usher in a ‘New Event Normal’.

2021 will include two course options including the 75k Brumby and 110k Wild Brumby, with the Wild Brumby including the popular Snowy Legends Descent, taking riders from Thredbo, in the shadow of Australia’s highest peak, Mt Kosciuszko, to Lake Crackenback, and on to Gaden in Jindabyne along the celebrated Lower Thredbo Valley Track (TVT).

The festival is part of a month-long MultiSport Festival in the Snowy Mountains which also includes the TreX Australian Cross Triathlon Championships and the Trail Run Australia.

The stage race is based out of one of the region’s most popular resorts at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa making this more than just a mountain bike race.  Athletes and families have the opportunity to enjoy the 4.5-star facilities on offer at the resort; and to experience the hospitality and local fare that only the Snowies region can deliver.

Riders will join the mountain men and women in the NSW high country to be tested by rugged mountain terrain, flowing single tracks, remote wilderness trails, colossal ascents, and awe-inspiring downhills.

An Iconic Event

The Snowy Mountains holds a special place in Australia’s history and the Snowies MTB Festival offers riders the opportunity to discover the heart of this iconic destination with its spectacular mountain panoramas, riverside vistas, epic suspension bridges, and a race against our very own ‘Man from Snowy River’.

Easy Logistics with Minimal Travelling

The magic of the Snowy Mountains is that all of this memorable and diverse riding is located within an area of just 35km. That means it’s easy and convenient for riders, with a maximum travel time to stages of just 20mins.

No need to pack up and move each day, riders can choose accommodation options ranging from camping to 5-star in the area, or, even choose to stay right in the heart of the action at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa.  Imagine, just hop out of bed, take in a leisurely breakfast and then jump on your bike and enjoy the ride.

In 2021 the festival will offer a massive $5,000 cash prize purse for the Elite category, but it’s not just about the elite racers.  Hundreds of weekend warriors, groups of mates, club members and families will join the festival in the age group stage race and Sunday’s 45k, 30k and 15k events.

Many have discovered this event is “more than just a mountain bike stage race” and the experience of joining our very own Man from Snowy River and his mountain bred brumby in a race to the final stage is a memory not to be forgotten.

One Day Opening Entry Special | Save $200 | First 50 Entries Only

Event organisers are excited to announce that they will be offering a one day only entry special where riders can enter the entire Wild Brumby course for $299 or the Brumby course for $259.  A massive $200 saving on the standard entry.  But this will be for one day and for the first 50 entrants only, so riders will need to be quick as entries sold out in the first 15mins last year.
