The Back 2 Back weekend is something a little different on the XC race scene. Riders will tackle 3 x 20km races over 2 days with the aim of achieving the fastest cumulative time across all 3 races.
Race 1 on Saturday morning will follow the course in a clockwise direction for 2 fast laps of the 10km course. After a short break for lunch Race 2 will also complete 2 x 10km laps but in an anti-clockwise direction just to shake things up a little.
After an overnight rest, and you can camp on site, Race 3 commences on Sunday morning with 2 x 10km laps tackled in a clockwise direction to finish off the weekend.
Juniors will tackle the 20k on Sunday with a 3k Dirt Kids event for our young ones. OR if 60km of riding isn’t your scene, enter just one of the 20k races on either day.

Race Number and Number Plates will be distributed in race packs at registration.
These race places are reused at other races so riders are asked to return these at the finish of the event to avoid being charged the $30 replacement fee per number and $20 replacement fee per number plate.
Riders under 18 years must be accompanied for the duration of the event by a Parent or Guardian who is present on site. At registration participants are to record the name and contact phone number of the accompanying adult or guardian on the Parental Registration Form.
It is recommended that competitors bring the following equipment.
Riders are required to bring enough water for before, during and after the event.
Please note, there are no water points on the 10km lap. Please ensure you have the capacity to carry enough water for the full lap distance

The Course & Safety Brief will take place at Race HQ. All competitors (including all members of teams) must attend the briefing with all equipment ready to start the event. The brief will cover all the information you need to ensure a safe and enjoyable race as well as important information about the course and any changes on the day.
The event will start soon after the Safety Brief is finished.
The event will start in wave starts from Race HQ. Please see the notice board on the day for start times.
Each race will finish at Race HQ on the completion of two laps.
A good and fair race always includes a few rules and to ensure you can enjoy your race it’s a good idea to have a read of the document below BEFORE the start of the event. These rules will be enforced by the Race Director and ignorance isn’t an excuse that can be accepted.

On the course there are a number of things you can do to assist yourselves and fellow competitors:
First Aid will be located at Race HQ and at two manned check points on the course. This will be identified at the safety briefing.
There are two check points on the course, staffed by First Aid Qualified team members. These are marked on the course map at HQ.
In the event of fire or other emergency, follow instructions from event officials. On the course marshals will direct you back to the Evacuation Meeting Point at HQ. Please follow instructions from Emergency Personnel and/or event officials.
Marquees may only be set up in designated ‘pit-lane’ areas.
Our event partners have been extremely generous in supporting this event so we can all enjoy the sport we love. We reciprocate that support and therefore no signage, flyers, promotional banners, promotional tents, branded vehicles, sales, service or trade displays are permitted to be set up within the Race HQ & Pit Lane areas without written authorisation from the event directors.
Please be respectful of this to avoid being asked to remove tents etc.

In2Adventure is committed to maintaining a minimal impact policy that will protect the environment and enable us as individual members of the general public and members of the outdoor community to continue to enjoy the vast natural environment that is Australia’s backyard. Therefore we ask that competitors read and agree to abide by the Bush Code and Mountain Bike Code outlined on in our Environmental Policy and ensure that no rubbish, gel packets or wrappers are dropped on the course during the event.
In2Adventure has public liability insurance. This DOES NOT cover you as a participant. If you fall off your bike or hurt yourself, there is no accident cover for you. In2Adventure strongly recommends that each participant has their own personal accident insurance. Each participant has been required to read & accept the RELEASE & INDEMNITY WAIVER when registering online.

IMPORTANT: Murrenbong Scout Camp is PRIVATE PROPERTY and access to the venue is not permitted outside of the event times.
Unless you have booked a campsite with Murrenbong Scout Camp, all vehicles must enter the venue through Gate 2. Car Parking is located at Race HQ. Please park as directed.
Those who have booked a campsite may enter the venue through Gate 1 and go directly to the Campsite Manager’s Residence. You will be directed to your campsite by the Campsite Manager.
IMPORTANT: The road within the scout camp is a rough single dirt track and there are some ruts and muddy patches. The speed limit is 20km per hour. Please take care when driving and be aware of possible oncoming traffic.
Race HQ and Transition are based at the top of the hill overlooking Lake Gaffney with riders passing through Race HQ at the end of each lap. Spectators will have a great view of all the action from here.
Marquees may be set up in the designated area around Race HQ for the purpose of providing shelter for support crew, however CAMPING IS NOT PERMITTED in the Race HQ Area.

At In2Adventure we love our fur kids too, however PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT MURRENBONG SCOUT CAMP, so please leave them at home to avoid being asked to depart the site during the event.
The event will wrap up on Sunday with prize giving at approx 11:30am. All visitors are asked to depart the event site by 2pm. If you wish to stay later than this camping or accommodation can be booked please see details HERE.

The Back 2 Back course is a 9.6km cross country lap and is graded easy to medium in technical difficulty. The only exception to this is the Mordor Trail which sits within the Madness Track and includes approx. 200m of technically and physically challenging riding with steep pinchy, switchback climbs when tackled in a clockwise direction. However, in a new twist at the Back 2 Back riders have the opportunity to ride Mordor downhill on two of the three races.
This is the perfect course for a short and fast 20km race and includes a few key challenges with some technical single track with switch backs, rollovers and pinchy climbs, there are also a number of hills and some steeper, rocky descents. The course includes fast, flowing single track, short sections of technical single track, trails, some fire trails and a creek crossing which adds to the fun of the race.
Race 1 and Race 3 will be raced in an anti-clockwise direction with Race 2 being a clockwise lap.
Our Junior riders aged 10-15yrs will tackle one race of the back 2 back event on Sunday morning completing two laps of the 10km course. Riders must be aged between 10 yrs and 15 yrs on the day of the event.
This is a fun, non-competitive event for our young champions of tomorrow. The course takes riders along some easy fire trails and flowing single track before returning to Race HQ to the cheers of the crowd. Being a non-competitive event parents/guardians are more than welcome to accompany riders on the course.
The Course is signed with In2Adventure arrows, cones and tape. Follow the course as indicated by the signage. It is important to note that the course will be marked bi-directionally, to indicate both the clockwise and anti-clockwise courses.
Marshals will be in place at strategic points throughout the course, however ultimately it is up to each competitor to know and follow the correct course route.
There are many opportunities for safe overtaking throughout the course. Below are the standard overtaking procedures on the mountain bike course.
The team have been out on course this week prepping the trails for next weekend and completing the final course marking. The course has changes slightly from LunarC and now includes the ‘Switchback’ trail to add an additional 400m to the track to increase the lap distance from 9.2km to 9.6km View Map Here
Course marking has been interesting as for the Back 2 Back the course is marked in both directions. To avoid confusion, the anti-clockwise lap (Races 1 & 3) is marked with yellow signs with black arrows, and the clockwise lap (Race 2, ridden in the same direction as LunarC) is marked with white signs with red arrows which should keep us all on track!
After a few years hiatus, the trails were well ridden in at Race 1 and with the spectacular Autumn weather we’ve been having in the Moreton Bay Region, they are riding hard and fast, so should make for some great times next weekend.

Moreton Bay Regional Council Sport and Recreation Spokesperson Councillor Darren Grimwade said he couldn’t be more excited for the region to host its own Mountain Bike Series and to showcase some of the area’s best MTB trails. “Locals have known for a long time that the Moreton Bay Region is home to some of the most exciting mountain biking in South East Queensland, and to have our own MoreTon Bay Series means we get to share it with the nation’s elite and most passionate riders,” Cr Grimwade said.
“As someone who’s a fan of extreme sports, I can’t wait to for the MoreTon Bay Series to kick into gear!
Cr Grimwade said beyond the fanfare, the MoreTon Bay Series would also inject more than $710,000 into local businesses, cafes, restaurants and accommodation providers.
“We have so much to offer in the Moreton Bay Region from the beaches to the hinterland, and with events like this, it’s an opportunity to share those experiences with visitors from across the state and country.
“It’s exactly the reason why council has invested more than $32.5 million in 2016/17 towards parks, recreation and sport in the Moreton Bay Region.”

No licence or club membership is require to race the MoreTon Bay MTB Series.
No! Whilst we do recommend bringing the whole family along to cheer you on and enjoy what the area has to offer, the beauty of this event is that a support crew is not compulsory, however having a mate there to assist with hydration and nutrition throughout the event is always a great idea, especially if you’re racing solo.
This is really a personal choice and if you’re trying to make the decision chances are you know all the pros and cons of riding each type of bike already. The event is a Cross Country event. Your dually will be a great all-rounder, but your hardtail will handle the terrain as well.
Competitors are not permitted to wear personal audio equipment while racing. This is to ensure that riders can easily hear calls from officials and from other riders and ensure it is an enjoyable experience for all involved.
Riders are expected to be self-sufficient for the entire event. No outside support is provided or permitted on the course. Full details are listed in the EQUIPMENT section of the website.
If you are unable to stay for prize giving you can send a stamped, self addressed registered envelope (large enough to hold your prize) to In 2 Adventure, PO Box 2003, Brookside Centre Qld within 2 weeks of the event. Please include the following details:
Your prize and medal will be posted as soon as possible, however, due to the fact that prizes are packed away in the event trailer and this sometimes has to be transported long distances there may be a wait time of up to 6 weeks.
Unfortunately due to past circumstances, we are unable to allow for prizes or medals to be collected by other competitors as we are committed to ensuring that prizes are delivered to the rightful recipient. After 2 weeks following the event if prizes are unclaimed they will be returned to the prize pool for future events. Random Draw Prizes Only those present at the presentation ceremony will be eligible for random draw prizes.
A decision to cancel or reschedule an event will not be made lightly, however our main focus is competitor safety and respect for the environment in which we operate. Sometimes situations outside of our control do result in this outcome.

Courses includes some of our favourite Murrenbong trails including Mordor, World Creek, Killer Python and Moria, but keep an eye out for some new riding experiences as each event takes in new and innovative courses withing the property.

LunarC is not your average mountain bike event and it’s not for the faint hearted. In a unique twist that turns mountain biking on its head, the LunarC 8hr starts at 10pm Friday and finishes at 6am Saturday for 8 hours of non stop dark side action with camping on site.
Run on a 10km course riders complete as many laps in 8hrs, passing through Race HQ & the event village at the end of each lap. Competitors ride til dawn and finish at 6am with the rising of the sun.
This is an awesome course for a night event so get ready for a night of madness and insanity as we turn to the dark side. And, as an added bonus you still have an entire weekend to enjoy after the event!
Here’s your chance to enjoy a weekend of riding without any long laborious hours on the bike. Competitors take part in three 20km races hosted across two days and winners are determined by the best cumulative time across all three races.
Races will take place on Saturday Morning, Midday Saturday and Sunday morning with each race being run in a different direction on the course.
Race 1: clockwise | Race 2: anti-clockwise | Race 3: clockwise
The weekend also includes a Junior 20k and Dirt Kids 3k. So with camping on site you can bring your friends and family and make a weekend of it.
Finally a stage race for us all. Tackle three diverse stages across 2 days in the aim to record the shortest cumulative time across all three stages.
Stage 1 kicks off Saturday morning with a heart pumping 4.5k Time Trial. Here’s your time to shine as you ride solo shredding up the 4.5k track. This stage will start and finish at Race HQ so plenty of viewing action for spectators and lots of encouragement for our riders.
Stage 2 sees riders tackling an all new course across a 7.5km lap. Starting in category wave starts, riders have three opportunities in three separate races to record the fastest lap time with the two best times counting towards riders overall time for this stage.
The final stage is an action packed 30km race with riders completing 3 laps of the 10km course. A great way to finish the stage race and the series.
Points will accumulate across the series with a MoreTon Bay MTB Elite Male & Female series champion and age group champions crowned at the final race of the season.
The rider with the most points at the completion of Race 3 will be crowned series champion.
Team Champions will be crowned in the following categories:
To be eligible for a Solo Series Championship riders must have competed in all three races.
To be eligible for a Team Series Championship the team must have competed in all three races with all original team members. Where a team member is not able to race due to illness/injury the following substitutions are permitted:
