Run on a 10km course riders complete as many laps in 8hrs, passing through Race HQ & the event village at the end of each lap.  Competitors ride til dawn and finish at 6am with the rising of the sun.

Race 2: Back 2 Back

Here’s your chance to enjoy a weekend of riding without any long laborious hours on the bike.  Competitors take part in three 20km races hosted across two days and winners are determined by the best cumulative time across all three races.

Races will take place on Saturday Morning, Midday Saturday and Sunday morning with each race being run in a different direction on the course.

With camping on site you can bring your friends and family and make a weekend of it.  Sunday also includes Junior & Kids Races.

Stage 2: Eliminator (Sat PM)

Course & Maps

Course Map

The Course

The LunarC course is a 10.1km cross country lap that includes all your old favourites including the famous (or should that be infamous?) Mordor! It is varied and graded easy to medium in technical difficulty. The only exception to this is Mordor which sits within the Madness Track and includes approx. 200m of technically and physically challenging riding with steep pinchy, switchback climbs.

This is the perfect course for a night event and includes a few key challenges with some technical single track with switch backs, rollovers and pinchy climbs, there are also a number of hills and some steeper, rocky descents. The course includes fast, flowing single track, short sections of technical single track, trails, some fire trails and a creek crossing which adds an element of excitement in the dark.

Signage

The Course is signed with In2Adventure reflective Arrows, Tape, Silooms & Reflective Posts. Please follow the signs.  Marshals will be in place at strategic points throughout the course.

Passing

There are many opportunities for safe overtaking throughout the course.  Below are the standard overtaking procedures on the mountain bike course.

  1. Keep to the left of the track where possible and allow others to pass.
  2. Walking something you do not feel confident riding is fine! However, please move off the track to allow riders right of way.
  3. When passing, give the person in front a friendly shout to indicate that you wish to pass “Passing when you’re ready”
  4. If being passed as soon as safe to do so move to the edge of the trail. You may need to ride to the edge of or off the trail to allow the faster rider to pass
  5. Race hard! But keep it friendly & have a great time doing it!

If you wish to ride the course outside of event times pre-booking with the campsite manager is essential.  We ask all riders to respect this as the camp has been extremely accommodating to enable us to relaunch the LunarC event this year, so please ensure you pre-book on the details below.

If you have not booked you are trespassing and are breaking the law and will be treated accordingly.

Important Notes for Pre-Riding the Course

Please note if you are riding the course before the event day, please be aware that there are a number of large trees across some of the trails.  These are being removed in the week before the event.  There are also some trail sections where maintenance work is being carried out.  If riding before the event please be cautious as riders will need to dismount in these sections.

Friday Practice Ride

The course will be open for a practice ride on Friday 12th May from 4:30pm to 8pm, this will enable riders to check out the course in daylight and then in the dark before the start of the event at 10pm.

Course Updates

9th May, 2017

As of today the course is fully marked, the large trees have been chainsawed and removed and the course is riding hard and fast.

With the forecast showers tomorrow this will be great to settle down the dust and bed in some of the new sections of track ready for Friday, when the forecast is for a fine day with a 30% chance of 0 to .2mm of rain!  Bring it on!

Event site opens at 4pm Friday and we’ll see you all there!

5th May, 2017

As of today the course is 50% marked and the few large trees that are down are being chainsawed over the weekend.  A big thank you to Andy ‘Hubcap’ Handyside who gave up his day on Tuesday to assist with building some of the new sections of course, which was greatly appreciated.

The team are back on site on Tuesday after which the course will be fully marked and ready to ride on Friday!  Bring it on!

29th April, 2017

Well after two weeks of hard work, the trails at Murrenbong are looking awesome!

The trails have all be cleared of debris and are grippy and hard.  There are 4 sections where maintenance work is currently being carried out which will continue over the coming week and the few large trees that have come down on the trails will be cleared in the week before LunarC.

All in all trails are riding hard and fast and will make for a great nights riding in two weeks as we head for the Dark Side.

18th April, 2017

With the trails not being in action since In2Adventure were last on site two years ago, there is a lot of debris on the trails and without the regular maintenance we normally carry out throughout the year there will be a bit of work for the team over the coming weeks, but we look forward to having the trails spick and span ready for LunarC.

MEET OUR EVENT PARTNERS

A big thank you to our event partners Moreton Bay Council for their support in making this series happen in the Moreton Bay Region

A Word from Cr Grimwade

Moreton Bay Regional Council Sport and Recreation Spokesperson Councillor Darren Grimwade said he couldn’t be more excited for the region to host its own Mountain Bike Series and to showcase some of the area’s best MTB trails. “Locals have known for a long time that the Moreton Bay Region is home to some of the most exciting mountain biking in South East Queensland, and to have our own MoreTon Bay Series means we get to share it with the nation’s elite and most passionate riders,” Cr Grimwade said.

“As someone who’s a fan of extreme sports, I can’t wait to for the MoreTon Bay Series to kick into gear!

Cr Grimwade said beyond the fanfare, the MoreTon Bay Series would also inject more than $710,000 into local businesses, cafes, restaurants and accommodation providers.

“We have so much to offer in the Moreton Bay Region from the beaches to the hinterland, and with events like this, it’s an opportunity to share those experiences with visitors from across the state and country.

“It’s exactly the reason why council has invested more than $32.5 million in 2016/17 towards parks, recreation and sport in the Moreton Bay Region.”

Do I need a license to race?

No licence or club membership is require to race the MoreTon Bay MTB Series.

Do I need a support crew?

No! Whilst we do recommend bringing the whole family along to cheer you on and enjoy what the area has to offer, the beauty of this event is that a support crew is not compulsory, however having a mate there to assist with hydration and nutrition throughout the night is always a great idea, especially if you’re racing solo.

I'm not sure whether to bring my hardtail or dual suspension bike. Do you have a recommendation?

This is really a personal choice and if you’re trying to make the decision chances are you know all the pros and cons of riding each type of bike already. The event is a Cross Country event.  Your dually will be a great all-rounder, but your hardtail will handle the terrain as well.

Can I carry a music device?

Competitors are not permitted to wear personal audio equipment while racing.  This is to ensure that riders can easily hear calls from officials and from other riders and ensure it is an enjoyable experience for all involved.

What equipment will I need for the event?

Riders are expected to be self-sufficient for the entire event. No outside support is provided or permitted on the course. Full details are listed in the EQUIPMENT section of the website.

What if I have won a prize and I can't stay for presentations?

If you are unable to stay for prize giving you can send a stamped, self addressed registered envelope (large enough to hold your prize) to In 2 Adventure, PO Box 2003, Brookside Centre Qld within 2 weeks of the event. Please include the following details:

  • The name & date of the event
  • Your category
  • Your Placing (ie 1st, 2nd, etc)

Your prize and medal will be posted as soon as possible, however, due to the fact that prizes are packed away in the event trailer and this sometimes has to be transported long distances there may be a wait time of up to 6 weeks.

Important Notes:

Unfortunately due to past circumstances, we are unable to allow for prizes or medals to be collected by other competitors as we are committed to ensuring that prizes are delivered to the rightful recipient. After 2 weeks following the event if prizes are unclaimed they will be returned to the prize pool for future events. Random Draw Prizes Only those present at the presentation ceremony will be eligible for random draw prizes.

What happens if an event is cancelled or rescheduled?

A decision to cancel or reschedule an event will not be made lightly, however our main focus is competitor safety and respect for the environment in which we operate.  Sometimes situations outside of our control do result in this outcome.

  • A decision on event cancellation or rescheduling may be made on the evening before or on the day of an event.
  • If an event is cancelled a notice will be posted on the event website and social media channels.
  • Full details of applicable credits in the case of a cancellation or rescheduling can be found in the Event Refund Policy

Can I change or transfer my entry?

It is forbidden to participate in an event under another competitor’s name or to offer your entry to another participant. Transfer of entry to another competitor is not permitted. Details about changing entry details are outlined in the Event Refund Policy

What if I have to withdraw from the event?

If you are unable to make the event full details are outlined in the EVENT REFUND POLICY  outlining necessary actions and follow up in the case of an applicable refund or credit
