Snowies MultiSport Festival 2021 – COVID-19 Update
Firstly, we would like to send our thoughts and best wishes to all of you who have been impacted by current events. It is, and will continue to be, an immense challenge for everyone, but we know the amazing spirit of our In2Adventure community will continue to carry us through this crisis and will mean that we will all come out the other side stronger and better than before.
We know that the future is very uncertain and in the big scheme of things, there are a lot of things that are much more important than a sporting event, such as the health and wellbeing of everyone in our community. The wellbeing of the amazing nurses, ambos, doctors, healthcare workers and many others, who everyday face challenges that many of us could not even imagine, and work tirelessly to ensure that we can all have the very best care available.
However, based on the overwhelming number of entries received, we also know that a lot of you are really looking forward to getting back into the action at the Snowies MultiSport Festival in February.
With recent developments in New South Wales relating to the latest COVID-19 outbreak, we have been monitoring the situation closely and continue to monitor information provided by the NSW Government and NSW Health as well as that from other states throughout the country.
Currently, the Snowies MultiSport Festival is moving forward with no change to plans. This is based on the following information available as of today for regional and rural NSW:
- The Snowy Monaro Region is not classed as a ‘Hot Spot’ and currently has no recorded cases; and
- Sporting activities are permitted. With a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place a maximum of 3,000 participants, or one person per 2 square metres are permitted.
Border Closures & Hot Spot Restrictions
We understand that border closures and ‘Hot Spot’ restrictions will be a concern for those travelling to the event. For peace of mind, the event refund policy has been updated to provide more certainty for athletes if they are impacted by border closures or travel restrictions due to COVID-19.
The information above is based on the current information available, however, as we know, things can change very rapidly and we will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep you updated via the In2Adventure news page.
COVID Safe Events
In our business operations we continue to ensure that our key focus is the health and well being of our athletes, team, volunteers and the communities in which we operate. We are focussed on ensuring that when an event takes place it delivers only positive outcomes for everyone involved. Over the past year we have been working hard to develop COVID Safe plans to deliver on this. These plans were implemented at the recent Sunshine Coast MultiSport Festival and thanks to the amazing support of of our team, our athletes and spectators the reports from local authorities and outcomes from the event were overwhelmingly positive.
We are working towards being able to deliver the Snowies MultiSport Festival, as we know after an incredibly challenging year with bushfires and the pandemic that regional communities are suffering, particularly financially. We are committed to delivering the event for the Snowy Mountains community, where it can be done in a safe and beneficial way for everyone involved.
To deliver a safe event means we’re all going to have to work together to make it happen, and that means a new ‘Event Normal’. Below is a summary of the changes you will see at the Snowies MultiSport Festival, including the new ‘Self Support Strategy’. These strategies are all about protecting what is ultimately more important than a sporting event, it’s about staying safe, protecting our health, and being respectful of others and looking after the well-being of our mates.
We know it will be a challenge, but the good thing is that we also know our In2Adventure family are pretty incredible people and they do thrive on a challenge… after all it’s why we all do these tough, mad sports that we do.
We wish you all the very best, and circumstances permitting, we hopeully look forward to welcoming you to Australia’s spectacular Snowy Mountains in 2021.
